Divide and Conquer!

I knew that I needed to get 'back on the horse' so to speak since I was originally very disappointed in my smoke bomb soap. (It's grown on me since then.) I feel like I just needed to beat that batch. So divide and conquer I did! :D The base of this soap is purple with chunks from the smoke bomb soap mixed in. The top you'll see has pink and blue dollops. The swirled strips and hearts are from the smoke bomb soap as well. I scented the new batch in fruity rings, the same as the other. I'm so excited with how it turned out. If the embeds don't stick then I don't know what I'll do!



You can just barely peek in to see the purple base.



I sprinkled with lots of glitter of course!

Smoke Bomb Soap...

So those that have seen my videos know that the smoke bomb soap didn't turn out as I'd hoped. The balls dislodged, the soap was crumbly and covered in ash. So I pretty much gave up on it but went and checked it out later and ended up cutting the bars further into squares. I'll clean them up when they've hardened more. I like how they turned out!

Soap Bomb Soap

This is how I intended to use the soap balls that I made last weekend from the Tangerine Colors batch. Last year around Independence Day, the kids and I came up with the idea to make a smoke bomb soap. We love to light smoke bombs on the 4th of July. The kids were asking about the soap and I decided I'd better get my act in gear so that we could actually use the soap by July.

This soap is scented with a fruity rings fragrance and I did an ITP swirl with black, white, and navy blue. The yellow-ish tinge from the fragrance oil will turn a light beige color. I sprinkled the top with three different kind of glitter.

Banana Peach Soap

This has been such a fun batch to work with. It behaved well, smells great, and it's pretty too!

Camocado Soap

So this morning I decided it was about time I work with the camocado soap. I tried various different cuts but this one is my favorite. I salvaged the entire loaf without making any soap balls. There are 5 decent sized bars and lots of pieces that will work for a travel soap for my husband.

Tangerine Colors and Banana Peach Soap

Hi All!

Yesterday afternoon was a time for more soap making! I made a batch of colors scented in tangerine as part of a bigger project. Today I'm going to take those colors and make soap balls from them. Then they will be embedded in yet another soap. I'm really excited about this project and will hopefully be able to complete it in the next week or two!


While I was at it, I split my batch and made a loaf of Banana Peach Soap. It is a cream-colored soap with yellow and peach stripes. I can't even tell you how yummy it smells!



Some of you may remember when I made a batch of Castile Colors before. It's really fun to make colorful soap to use as embeds later!

Acai Berry Soap & Other Stuff

Here's the Acai Berry soap, it's so pretty and smells even better!


The Camo soap is a whole other story. It did not want to unmold at all. I thought my seal just wouldn't break on the bottom of the mold but it was just soft all over. I was not feeling patient with it so I just got it out without concerning myself over the damage I made.


The loaf is quite mangled.


I'm going to allow this to sit for a while longer to harden up a bit and then I'm going to trim it up and make travel soaps for my husband. The smaller sizes will be perfect for that. With the scraps I am going to make some soap balls.


I have had the Rainforest Pumice soap set up for quite a while but I never got around to pictures until yesterday.

Two New Remakes

Today I got back into my soaping zone and cranked out a couple of remakes. It seems that I've been more inspired to re-design our favorites than to soap something new.

The first I did was my camo soap only I added avocado this time so I'm calling it Camocado. :) My last batch had colored lather so I went easy on the colorants this time but now I'm a bit disappointed. It's way too light but I had already used plenty of colorant and I didn't want to over due it. It's scented with bay rum.


The second I soaped was Acai Berries and Satin. I'd formally called it my Sparklebrook Signature soap. It still can be that if we want it to be. :P The last one was pink, purple, and blue and this one is pink, purple, and green. The swirl does not go through the entire soap. The main body of the soap is green. It's really pretty.



I tried a new recipe with these batches. Once again I'm feeling unsettled and experimental with my recipe. The oils are the same but I adjusted the percentages a bit. I'm also liking my latest recipes without cream so these ones don't have cream either.

My next batch (if it doesn't change in the next two minutes) will be a gentle buttermilk and calendula batch using my most favorite chamomile lavender essential oil blend. After that, I have some super fun batches planned! SUPER. FUN.

Practicing With Food

My son's birthday is this week so we celebrated with my family over the weekend. I've been thinking about making some soap cupcakes so I practiced on my son's birthday cupcakes! :)
