It's That Time Again!

It's time to make the soaps for the holiday season! It seems early for the rest of the world, but for soap makers, this is the time to get our jingle bells on and get to work! And again, by the time the rest of the world is thinking about the holidays, we're thinking of pink, red, hearts, and love. :-)

Merry & Bright 2012 - The perfect holiday scent in my opinion! A festive blend of fir notes balanced by nuances of orange peel, garlands of cranberry, dried lemon slices, golden spun sugar, and a touch of vanilla. A natural colored base with swirls of deep violet, bright blue, and rich gold.

Montana Memories - a scent blend of fir, orange, and pine and colored with green and white swirls. This scent always reminds me of my childhood in Montana and waking up to the beauty of the sparkling snow resting on the pine trees.

I didn't make any videos for these soaps. It has been very difficult processing and uploading my videos recently. My husband convinced me to enjoy some relaxing soap making; jamming out to my favorite music. It was refreshing and fun! I will do a video of my next soap coming up which will be Holly Jolly 2012!

Rio Rumberry

The Rio Rumberry soap turned out quite nice! I have little air pockets since the soap thickened up so quickly but it turned out great anyway! I'm loving the new colors too. I'd say this is very much a girly camo to match my men's camo soap. :-)

Back At It!

Yesterday I made a new soap scented in a dupe of BBW's Rio Rumberry. It smells amazing! I'm calling it Rio Rumberry and I colored it in hot pink, bright blue (well, ended up more teal-ish), purple, and white. It accelerated on me so I wasn't able to do the swirl I wanted but I think it turned out great!

I sprinkled the top with four different colors of glitter though it's hard to see the difference in the picture. :-)

The Last Four

Let's talk about the last four soaps I made. They are also the last four soaps for a while. I am totally out of supplies and haven't had the gumption to place a new order yet. I'll be doing that soon but then I'll have to wait on them to get here. This is a forced hiatus as I call it. :-)

This first soap is a remake of Camocado soap. This is a masculine/cologne-scented soap and contains fresh avocado and is in a camouflage design. I am still trying to achieve the design from my very first Camocado but I didn't quite get it. I'll have to make it again is all!

This soap is also a remake. It is my Autumn Berry soap and I first made it last year. I absolutely loved the design so I tried my best to make it exactly the same. I think I did a pretty good job at copying my own soap! LOL! This is scented in a cranberry and spice scent. I pick up on some pine or fir in the fragrance as well. It's lovely!

This soap is the next in my Crumble series. This one is Apple Crumble and it smells oh so good! Apples, spices, cream, sugar, and oatmeal. Mmmm...mmmm...I must make the real thing! I'm not sure how much more this soap will darken if any. It has already turned the color that was at the edges. We shall see!

I was thinking about all the wonderful Autumn soaps coming out right now and was thinking about the fact that most are scented. So I decided to jazz up my unscented Sprinkles & Twinkles for Autumn! I've added pureed pumpkin to this soap along with the cream and seasonal sprinkles and twinkles!

As always you can find the videos of the making and cutting at my YouTube channel.

Thank you for stopping by!

Blackberry Crumble, Sea Mist, and Red Maple Leaves!

That's quite the combo huh? These soaps turned out quite well. I can't stop sniffing all of them. The Blackberry Crumble soap makes my mouth water and the Red Maple Leaves soap just makes me happy. It's such a wonderful fall fragrance. The Sea Mist soap is also lovely and I'll soap it again despite the ricing and the speckles in the soap.

I'm working on uploading a soap shelf update video at the moment so look for that soon!

Catching Up

Last week was a fun and busy week as the kids were at their grandparents house and I had lots of time to play and I used it! :-)

The first soaps that I made were Vanilla & Oats and Chocolatte.

Vanilla & Oats is unscented. I added colloidal oatmeal, cream, reduced vanilla (for color), and some vanilla bean seeds for exfoliation. It has a sweeter scent than a regular unscented soap and I love how it turned out.

Chocolatte is scented in a chocolate/coffee/cream scent. I added reduced coffee, a touch of cream, and some ground coffee to the white part of the batter. At the point these pictures were taken, the soap hadn't discolored much. I will take some new and post them soon.

From there I went to a couple of bright and cheery soaps!

Pink Confetti contains an entire bar of rainbow soap and is scented in a fizzy citrus/spring floral scent.

The other bright soap is named Pink Flurry. I did this one in a double-pour fashion. It is scented in a bright berry/citrus scent.

There were some candles in there too!

Yesterday I got back in the soap kitchen and made three more. I am really on a roll!

This one is Blackberry Crumble and I hope it to be the first in a 'Crumble' series. I blended my own fragrance for this one and it's a mix of blackberries, oatmeal, honey, sugar, cream, and cinnamon. I love how it looks! I suspected it would heat up so I used my wood mold, covered it, and wrapped it in towels hoping for a gel. We'll see!

I was really eager to soap this next scent. It is called Red Maple Leaves and it is mildly floral with some crunchy leaf earthiness. It really does remind one of sitting outside during the fall season. It's coming right up!

Finally, I soaped a salty sea fragrance. I'm calling this soap Sea Mist. It tried to rice on me but I whipped it into submission and then topped it off with a bit of glitter and some sea salt.

Please visit my YouTube for available videos on these. I wasn't able to upload the making of Pink Confetti and Pink Flurry so you won't find those unfortunately. I'm also struggling with my camera right now. My usual camera is having a hard time taking pictures and so we purchased a newer version with HD video capabilities but the sound is not right on it. So there won't be any making videos of Blackberry Crumble, Red Maple Leaves, or Sea Mist either. I hope to remedy the situation soon.

Candyland Soap

I loyal viewer on my YouTube suggested the name Candyland and I love it! This soap turned out so pretty! The soap balls look like little colorful planets. So fun. The scent blend I mixed up actually smells like candy and the 'planets' also remind me of jawbreakers. I will be making this again I'm sure. These bars are huge at 8+ ounces!

There is a cutting video of course!

What to make next?!?! I'm on a roll! :-)
